HOWDY!

Restivo Family Cellars is a family owned vineyard and winery specializing in Texas grown wines. We started our business with the mission of crafting high quality wines and serving them in an inviting, family-friendly atmosphere.

Our Story

We started Restivo Family Cellars with the mission of bringing our community together over great wine. Our journey started in the summer of 2021 with a trip to Napa Valley. While the wine was excellent, we fell in love with the family nature of many of the wineries we visited, and the fact that they had been built up and passed down over generations. This memory lingered in our heads when we returned home and gave us a desire to build something that would outlast us. We coupled this with that fact that we desired to interact deeply with our local community to come up with the idea of a winery that would be warm and welcoming for people to come together and share their lives. Thus, Restivo Family Cellars was born. We purchased a beautiful 10-acre property close to Cypress, Texas in October of 2021, with a goal of planting a vineyard and building a place where our community could unwind in fellowship with others. We hope that our wines become part of your family!

THE VINEYARD

We began construction of our vineyard in October of 2022. In the spring of 2023, 30 of our closest friends and family planted one acre of Blanc du Bois grapevines, and one acre of Pasaente Noir vines. Our first year was challenging but rewarding. Our entire block of Blanc du Bois failed to grow, and more than a week of nonstop rains waterlogged many of our Pasaente Noir vines. But, the vines that did survive grew strong and healthy, and even grew some unexpected clusters of grapes. We will be replanting our Blanc du Bois in the spring of 2024, and we’ll plant another variety called Blanc du Soleil in 2025.

Due to the Gulf Coast’s climate and geography, we cannot grow traditional wine grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay. Instead, we grow hybrid varieties or hardy native varieties. Blanc du Bois is a white hybrid grape originally bred by the University of Florida to thrive in humid environments such as ours. It makes excellent white and sparkling wines. Pasaente noir is a very new variety produced through a breeding program at UC-Davis. It is a hybrid of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Petit Sirah. We are on the cutting edge with this variety, as there are no Texas wines made from this grape yet on the market.
